Kenny Scharf (b. 1953) is a leading artist who participated in the East Village art movement along with Keith A. Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, revolutionizing and resisting mainstream American art in the late 1980s. Breaking away from the elitism in fine art, he made various attempts to make art more accessible.
