Since the late 1960s, standing at the forefront of the avant-garde and experimental movement of the time, Lee Kun-Yong lead the Space and Time Art Society (ST) and actively participated in the AG (avant-garde) group. Lee has continued to experiment with the questions of the essence of art and how it exists. He has presented various performances, installations, and painting works that pay attention to the relationship between his body, the space where his works are presented, and the viewers who look at them. Lee participated in the Paris Biennale (1973) and the São Paulo Biennale (1979). He held his first retrospective exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea (MMCA) in 2014. His works are in the permanent collection of the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, Korea, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, Daegu Museum of Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern in London, UK and the Rachofsky Collection in Dallas, USA.
